Was going to go to Espresso Workshop yesterday for lunch except mum was tied down at work and after filing and sitting there for nearly 2 hours i left cz i hadnt had breakfast...
But went to Winnie's house this morning to avoid filing (still had to do some) and we.... i have no idea what we did actualy but it was fun
we ate junk foods
and watched some of ice age
=]
Espresso Workshop is on Manukau Rd next to Eggs and it is very good
It's quite busy and it took us ages to find a suitable seat cz mum kept changing her mind... sigh...
they were lovely
i think its owned by asians
the famed barista david huang or whatever is asian thoguh i dont think he was there
the chefs were asian and one of the waitresses or 2 were asian
there was also a white guy he might have been a halfie im not sure but he was uber awesome
he was like... a taller slightly better version of Christian Soriano which is you know... pretty awesome
he had the hair and a couple of streaks thoguh not as BAM as christian an he was wearing glasses... i felt like we bonded over our asymetrical, streaked hairs and our glasses
I had capuccino and mum had hot chocolate (our usual drinks at cafes...)
I still find it hilarious every time our drinks come and they put the coffee in front of mum and the hot chocolate in front of me
and how she semi-whines and tells me to eat her marshmallows cz theyre yucky
im like
... no eat your own marshmallows
and then she gives me 'the look' and spoons hot chocolate foam into her mouth
e.e
it was incredibly hot today and i had to wait a while before i could handle drinking capuccino toherwise i would have burned up
The capuccino was very good, just how i like it
It was nice cz it wasnt overfoamed like a lot of capuccinos are and by the time you get to the actual coffee 2/3s is already gone
laina approves of their famous coffee
hahaaa
Mum ordered soup of the day which was.... oh i forgot... something like tomato and spinach....
not as weird as it sounds but i only tried it a little bit when i dunked some of her sourdough into the soup to try
the sourdough was good and the soup pretty nice
i got the pasta of the day which was spaghetti with garlic, spinach, vine-ripened tomatos, capsicum and pecorino and tossed in EVOO
it was very good
very very very good
their servings are quite generous (to me) and i didnt finish but i ate most of the veges except some of the damn tomatoes cz theyre so hard to fork
the pasta was very well cooked, perfect al dente
and there was enough garlic but not so that its overpowering and noone wants to stand within a 10 mile radius
it was all very good
quite satisfied
service was friendly and efficient (uber christian may influence my opinion slightly...)
i would definitely go back
the only issue is parking but we parked on the street across the road and we had plenty of time so yeah... not that bad
however i must say that a lot of the specials comes down to luck as to what theyre serving that day cz they were serving a lemon risotto with something something something whcih i didnt like the sound of but hey. each to their own right?
btw presentation was awesome they ahd the swirly thing on top of all their coffees and hot chocolates which means that they try and make an effort (or at least they seem to)
and the cutlery/bowls are classic and pretty and clean and actually quite interesting
the pasta was awesome cz it was greeny, redy, goldy and a bit of yellow but we'll say thats goldy
it was lovely
like christmas in a bowl
i recommend going in for a late-ish lunch and coffee (try and beat rush hour where all the housewives etc. come in and take ages)
Now i est in a good mood
